Let's first talk about my experience at Melasti Beach.

Located on the southern tip of Bali, Melasti Beach was a refreshing escape from the usual hustle and bustle of tourist spots.

As I drove down the well-paved roads leading to this secluded paradise, the towering limestone cliffs promised a dramatic yet serene beachfront, which didn't disappoint.

• Location: Situated in Ungasan village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali, at the base of dramatic limestone cliffs.
• Best Time to Visit: Dry season, from April to September, for sunny weather and calm seas.
• Entrance Fee: Approximately 30,000 Indonesian Rupiah per person.

What about Kuta Beach?

Curious to explore more, I took a day trip to the infamous Kuta Beach, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and excellent surfing conditions. Just a short drive from Melasti, Kuta presented a stark contrast. The beach was buzzing with energy, the shore lined with eager tourists and locals enjoying the sun, sand, and surf.

Surfing at Kuta was fantastic. The waves were beginner-friendly, and I took a short lesson which was a lot of fun. As the day wound down, I joined a crowd to watch one of the most breathtaking sunsets I've ever seen. The sky turned a palette of deep oranges and purples, a perfect backdrop to end my day.

• Accessibility: Both beaches are accessible, with Kuta Beach being closer to the airport and potentially more crowded due to its popularity and proximity to urban areas.
• Atmosphere: Melasti Beach offers a more serene and scenic environment, ideal for those seeking tranquility and cultural experiences. Kuta Beach is more dynamic, known for its bustling atmosphere and vibrant nightlife, making it a hotspot for younger tourists and surfers.
